Stupid Rules
Today I read about a girl who pole vaults in California and she had a District winning vault disqualified because the coach of the second place team pointed out that she was wearing a bracelet after she vaulted the team to victory. Wearing jewelery disqualifies you from the competition, so the team lost. Its stupid. Its bad sportsmanship. Its bad gamesmanship. I bet the second place team didnt even want the title after winning like that.
This rule made me think of other stupid rules and regulations and brought me to the morning security at Lake Braddock. After the 4/16/07 attacks at VT, FCPS instituted a new rule that the schools had to lock the doors besides the main entrance of a school which is a GOOD rule for our safety. At first this rule took effect at 7:45 which was fine, because school started at 7:30 and if youre later than 7:45, its unexcused abscence anyway. But for some odd reason, the administration apparently decided to make this effective at 7:26 this year. This is not smart, as it makes kids miss important directions or instruction, one thing the school doesnt want to happen.
On any given day it takes me anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes to get to school based on traffic. If theres an accident on Burke Lake Rd, it can take up to 40 minutes to go the 2 miles to LB on a bad day. This unpredictability has definitely made me, and many others late to school on a few occasions. And this year the administration wanted to crack down on tardies and thats fine, but why the heck would you make it harder for the students to get to class closer to time?
Now if you get to school at 7:26 and try to enter from LB Drive, you are greeted with a big metal gate. Now, if you drive, you have to go all the way around to the main entrance, making you at least 5 more minutes late. Then you park your car and run to the nearest entrance. It is 7:30, just 5 minutes after the bell rang and the Morning Bru is still on screens all over LB so you havent missed any class yet. You run up to an entrance and try to open a door. LOCKED. Now you have to go all the way to the main entrance, away from many classrooms and almost all staircases and enter the school. This adds at least 5 minutes to your commute to class. It is 7:35 to 7:40 by the time you stroll into your first period. You get the killer glare from your teacher and the utter embarrassment of signing the tardy sign in, which has no effect because teachers submit tardies via the computer. You sit down after missing the directions to the assignment or the begining of the test and all you can think about is how horrible your day has been because you were 1 minute late to school.
Lake Braddock, open the gates for at least 5 more minutes, keep the doors unlocked a little longer, and let kids get to class quicker. Its what you want, isnt it?

Music
I like music. A lot.
If I could do anything in life, i’d be able to make good music. I dont care what type…rap, hip-hop, rock. I’d take any of them. Even if I could just sing, I’d be happy. But I cant.
I appreciate good music. I dont care who sings it. I dont care if its a guy or a girl. 10 year old or 50 year old. Anyone. Any genre. If it makes me feel something, I will like it. I feel like this seperates me from a lot of people.
A lot of people dont like Justin Bieber because hes young, and a pretty boy. A lot of people dont like Ke$ha shes “whats wrong” with music with her catchy lines and meaningless lyrics. Well, I think theyre talented. Bieber can sing. Bottom line. His music is pretty good and if Drake, Usher, Luda can all see that, I dont get why others cant. Ke$ha makes good music. Since when does music HAVE to have meaningful lyrics. Sometimes it can just make you want to get up and party. Sometimes it makes you want to kill someone or yourself. Its draws so many different emotions. Ke$has music makes me happy. I dont know why. It does. So I like her. It evokes emotion.
I got in a fight with my cousin about whether this guy named Curren$y was better than Lil Wayne. I said he wasnt because frankly, Lil Wayne makes hits. Millions upon millions of fans listen to his music everyday and they love it. It evokes emotion from them. Thats why they listen. That means he’s making good music. Curren$y is a good freestyler, but until he can attratct more people, he isnt doing very much artistically in my opinion.
I honestly dont care if their lyrics have any meaning at all. One of my friends said Drake wasnt that good cuz all he rapped about money clothes cars and hoes, which is true but its good music. He entertains me. Thats why I like him. At the end of the day, if im entertained by the music, i like it. Thats whether the lyrics are saying something or not.
Ah, stupid people
On my Mr. Bruin application/questionnaire one question was “What is your biggest pet peeve?” I answered something along the lines of “I hate it when people dont use common sense or are just stupid when it comes to common sense.”
This post is dedicated to that.

COPS: Times Square Car Bomber Got the Wrong Fertilizer
The would-be car-bomber who left an SUV loaded with propane and gas cans, fireworks and timing devices on a Times Square street also had more than 100 pounds of fertilizer, but not the kind that would explode, police said today.
This is an article that came out Sunday about the attempted car bombing in NYC. The cops apparently decided to tell the whole dang world that the terrorist who tried to bomb the city had the non-explosive type of fertilizer in the car so it wouldnt have blown up as well if the bomb did go off. This rasies one question in my head:
WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU TELL THE TERRORIST AND THE WORLD THIS!? If the freaking terrorist was smart enough to make a bomb, get it into NYC, but messed up with the fertilizer, WHY WOULD YOU TELL HIM AND OTHER TERRORISTS EVERYWHERE!? Thats just dumb. If hes A COMPLETE MORON and messes this up then theres probably other terrorists IDIOTIC enough to do this. Why help them?! Thats like having a gun pulled on you and the guy tries to pull the trigger but the safety is on and you telling him that the safety was on. Its not in your best interest.
Another thing about the NYC car bombing. Yes, the guy who saw the car is very smart for noticing it and alerting the cop. But why is he made out to be a hero when he saw A SMOKING CAR. What i’m trying to say is, yea its good he saw it, but it would have been straight up STUPID if he didnt. Its a car. With smoke. Without a driver. In NYC. With gas canisters and fertilizer. Not normal. I’m pretty okay with it because the guy is actually not doing interviews and just trying to stay out of the spotlight. Good for him. 15 min of fame is overrated anyway. If you get fame. its only deserved if you can keep it.
I’ll be periodically adding more stupid things I see with life as I go.

Johnny Drama
Drama.
I hate that word.
I have no problem with the conflict arising from “Drama” but I hate the damn word. I dont know why but the word drama just pisses me off. I dont really care if there is drama, because I usually just like watching it but I just dont like the word.
Can we rename it? Is there a synonym we can all use? lets try thesaurus.com….nothing that has the same effect as saying “me and her have Drama”. It’s not like I can even go “they have beef” because I’m Hindu. Cows are sacred! They cant be associated with something I hate!
The worst is when people say something is “Drama” when its not. Like two girls just plain dont like each other and dont talk, they’ll say they have “Drama” with each other when they actually dont talk. Thats not drama. Thats being human. You wont like people. Just dont talk to them so I dont have to hear that damn word.
Sorry for being so drama-tic ;)

Teachers.
Teachers. A senior’s worst enemy…or best friend. I have 6 teachers this year. I’m going to break down each and every one and make you see what makes a good teacher or a teacher that you like and what makes a horrible teacher.
1st period- Mrs. Smothers= Good teacher. She assigns a good amount of work however it is a reasonable amount that is, at the end of the day, essential to the learning of Calculus. She is very reasonable with due dates and understanding when it comes to turning things in and missing class. She is a free spirit and I love it. She will stand in front of the class and answer every single question if she has to until you understand the material. She loves teaching. She is a good teacher. Good amount of work, likes doing it, reasonable.
2nd period—Mrs. D’Elosua- *EDITED* Will be up after graduation. Shes not my favorite teacher. I’ll leave it at that.
3rd Pd- Mrs. French. Eh…shes okay…sometimes. Okay Mrs. French is a probably a good teacher if you are willing to dedicate lots of time to her class. I had Calc the same day as Stat and chose Calc over it because its harder and more valuable to me so I had a rougher time with mrs. french. She tries her best to get you to understand the info. The hw assignments get ridiculous at times but its not too bad. She kinda fluffs your grade sometimes which helps. Shes always smiling which is better than when shes in a bad mood which isnt too often. In conclusion, not TOO much work, willing to help you, kinda annoying= okay teacher. If you are lazy i wouldnt take stat.
4th and 7th Pd. Yearbook with Mrs. Yuckenberg- I love Mrs Y. She lets us do our stuff. Helps us when she needs to. Fun to talk to. Relaxed, leaves us to do our work, helps when shes needed= good teacher.
5th Period—-Mrs. Wilson. Shes kinda boring at times but shes kinda like mrs. Yuckenberg in the fact she helps when shes needed but kinda stays away if shes not. She gives lectures which are really boring but she knows almost everyone in her class is smart so she just gives us the formulas, tells us what to plug in and we go on our way. Shes a pretty good teacher. Sometimes boring, allows us to do our work, teaches when needed, gives extra credit= good teacher.
6th period- Mr. Faust—-His lectures are really boring so that kinda takes away from him but if you pay attention and can decipher the message through his mumbling, you can learn A LOT. I enjoy his class because he REALLY knows what hes talking about. I havent had to do hw in that class all year and I do fine so I like it. Learn a lot in class, pretty nice guy, reasonable, tries to make lame jokes=good teacher.
Bottom Line: If the teacher teaches us what we need to know when we need the help, theyre good. If they assign extraneous work to ridiculous degrees, theyre horrible. If they know what theyre talking about, theyre good. If they are reasonable they are good. It’s always refreshing to have teachers that are reasonable. For example, Mrs. Delosua, the most ridiculous teacher assigned a BOOK for us to read during AP Week with journals. WHAT THE HELL?! we have AP exams. Every goddamn day and she assigns us a freaking book? what is she thinking? Mrs. Smothers just assigned us work that would help us on the exam and she assigned it weeks before the exam so we could get ahead. That is being reasonable.
I guess I just hope that teachers would read this and become better teachers. I sometimes wish we could actually give feedback to teachers anonymously and they would take it seriously because noone knows how to be taught like the students themselves.
There are good people in this world.
Today I was at chipotle and I was wearing my Redskins pajama pants (theyre sick) that my mom made me. Yes, she made them for me. She stitched the cloth she got from the store and made me pajama pants. The pockets are really loose and stuff always falls out. Apparently, I dropped my wallet outside my car in the parking lot as I was leaving. I got home and realized it so I immediately called Will (who was still at Chip) and searched my car. After getting off the phone a random car pulled up to my house and it was a guy who found my wallet! He didnt take any of the 20s in it, and just drove it over to my house. There are good people in this world. It’s official. Thanks to whoever that guy was.
Beware of the AP test taker
So today started the AP exams all over the country. This means its also the week where you see one of the most horrid sights of the year—-THE AP TEST TAKER. Seeing as AP exams are at 7:30 and run for like 3 hours, girls tend to dress “comfortably” aka like a bum and you see things you’ve never seen from these teenage beauties. Glasses. Frizzy hair. Sweats. No make up. Its a truly horrid sight indeed. Theres some girls you wont even recognize. In fact, I made a little drawing to reflect the bums:
Be sure to notice, the messy hair, glasses, lack of make-up (which can lead to some surprises about how girls really look), sweats (usually abnormally large and/or belonging to a boyfriend or brother), and clogs (or other comfortable shoe).
Now this doesnt hold true for alllll girls, theres some that can pull off the lazy look incredibly well and I think its really attractive that they can.

Sammy Adams Live
Over spring break I was randomly searching for music when I found a thread on an NFL Fan Forum about new music and upcoming hiphop/rap artists. In there I sampled a lot of the artists such as J. Cole, Mac Miller, some B.o.B. but one guy stuck out immediately to me. Sam Adams. This guy is the shit. His flow is sick, he’s bound to have multiple hits. After I realized he was the guy who sung “I Hate College” I started listening to his other stuff. His album came out last month, and its straight fire, top to bottom. It’s called Boston’s Boy. I told Clay about him and he’s told some people so I think Sam Adams is about to have a lot of fans at Lake Braddock haha, im proud to say I very well could have started that. He’s from Boston and I dont think hes actually signed but whoever signs him is getting a sick rapper. It’s times like this when I wish I owned a record label haha
